About this WMA to MP3 converter

WMA is Microsoft's audio codec from the Windows Media era. It still shows up in old downloads, ripped CDs from Windows Media Player, podcast archives and corporate voicemail systems — but most modern phones, smart speakers and editors won't touch it.

This tool converts any WMA file to MP3. We don't analyse or index your file.

WMA to MP3 FAQ

Will I lose audio quality?

WMA → MP3 is lossy-to-lossy, so there's a small generational loss. At 192k it's inaudible for spoken-word content and minimal for music. For maximum quality, convert to WAV or FLAC instead via the main converter.

What about DRM-protected WMA files?

DRM-locked WMA files (old PlaysForSure, Zune Marketplace) cannot be converted by anyone — that's the point of the DRM. Only unprotected WMA works here.

Why is WMA so rare now?

Microsoft never licensed it widely outside the Windows ecosystem, so phones and modern apps standardised on AAC and MP3. WMA is mostly a legacy concern at this point.

Is my file kept private?

Yes. We don't analyse or index your file.
