Tap Tempo BPM Finder
Tap along to the beat — the tool calculates BPM in real time. No file needed; works with any source you can hear.
Tip: tap with the strongest beat in the song (the kick drum). Mistimed taps are absorbed by the rolling average.
About this tap-tempo tool
Sometimes you've got a song playing in another tab, on Spotify, on a record player or in a coffee shop, and you just need to know the BPM. This tool lets you tap along to the beat with your mouse or spacebar, and it calculates the tempo in real time.
It uses a rolling window of your last few taps to keep the reading stable as you go. If you mistime a beat, just keep tapping and the average updates.

Tap-tempo FAQ
How accurate is it?
Within ±1 BPM after 6-8 steady taps. The variance comes from your timing as a human, not the math.
Why doesn't it stabilise on the first tap?
BPM is calculated from the gap between taps, so you need at least two. Each new tap refines the rolling average.
What's the difference between this and the BPM Detector?
BPM Detector takes an audio file and analyses it. This tap-tempo tool needs no file — useful for sources you can hear but not upload (live performance, streaming, vinyl).
Can I use Spacebar?
Yes — Spacebar registers a tap from anywhere on the page.
