AMR to MP3 Converter

Convert AMR voice recordings — Android calls, voicemail and push-to-talk — to MP3 in seconds.

About this AMR to MP3 converter

AMR (Adaptive Multi-Rate) is the audio codec used for cellular voice calls and a lot of older Android voice recorders. It's tiny and tuned for speech, but no modern desktop player or messenger supports it natively.

This page converts AMR (narrow-band, the standard mobile format) and AMR-WB (wide-band, used by HD Voice) files to MP3. Output uses 128k for clean speech reproduction at minimal size.

How to convert AMR to MP3

  1. 01

Drop in an .amr or .awb file

Standard AMR-NB and the wider AMR-WB variant both work.

The engine decodes the AMR stream and re-encodes as 128k MP3 — perfect for voice.

  3. 03

    Download the MP3

Plays in every audio player, voice-note app and editor.

AMR to MP3 FAQ

What's the difference between AMR-NB and AMR-WB?

AMR-NB samples at 8 kHz (telephony quality); AMR-WB at 16 kHz (HD Voice). AMR-WB sounds noticeably clearer. Both convert to MP3 here.

Will I lose audio quality?

AMR is already lossy and tuned for speech, so most of the original sound detail is gone before you start. The MP3 conversion at 128k is faithful to whatever the AMR file contained.

Can I get higher-quality output?

Possible, but pointless — AMR's built-in fidelity caps out well below 128k MP3. Higher bitrates won't recover detail that wasn't there in the source.

Is my file kept private?

Yes. We don't analyse or index your file.
