Audio Pitch Shifter

Move a track up or down by semitones without changing how fast it plays. Useful for key changes and vocal practice.

Pitch shift

-12 = an octave down. +12 = an octave up. Tempo stays constant.

About this audio pitch shifter

Pitch and tempo are linked unless you separate them on purpose. This tool shifts the pitch of an entire audio file by a number of semitones while leaving the tempo intact — so a song stays the same length, but ends up in a different key.

Singers use it to drop a backing track to a comfortable key. Producers use it to repitch a sample without retiming it. Hobbyists use it to find out what their favourite song sounds like in another key — all without uploading anything.

    Drop in audio

Negative shifts down, positive shifts up. Up to 12 semitones (one octave) in either direction.

  3. 03

Pitch shifter FAQ

What's a semitone?

The smallest step in standard Western music. Twelve semitones make an octave. So +12 semitones is the song an octave up; -7 is down a perfect fifth.

Will it sound robotic at extreme shifts?

Smaller shifts (within a few semitones) sound clean. Bigger shifts (±10+ semitones) start to add audible artefacts — that's true of any non-AI pitch shifter.

Is this the same as Auto-Tune?

No. Auto-Tune snaps individual notes to a scale; this shifter moves the whole file up or down by a fixed amount.

Will the audio be re-encoded?

Yes — pitch shifting requires re-encoding. The output uses the same format as the input at a sensible quality default.
