About this metadata stripper
Audio files often carry metadata you don't want to share: a recording timestamp from your phone, the device model, GPS coordinates, the iTunes account that bought it, your name as the artist, an old playlist tag, embedded cover art with EXIF data, and so on. Most players show only some of it — but the data is in the file, and any recipient can read it.
This tool drops every ID3 tag, cover image and embedded metadata frame from the file. The audio bits are copied through unchanged — bit-identical sound, zero metadata.

Will the audio quality drop?
No. The audio stream is copied through unchanged — every sample of the original audio is preserved bit-for-bit.
What metadata is removed?
All ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags (title, artist, album, year, genre, lyrics, ratings, encoder ID), embedded cover art, comments, padding, and Xing/LAME headers' user fields.
Are there any forensic traces left?
The audio compression encoder leaves subtle fingerprints (frame structure, padding decisions). For a paranoid threat model, transcode to a different codec rather than relying on metadata-stripping alone.
Is my file kept private?
Yes. We don't analyse or index your file.
