About AC-3 / Dolby Digital

AC-3 (also known as Dolby Digital) is the standard audio codec for DVD, Blu-ray, ATSC digital TV broadcasts and many video-editing pipelines. It supports up to 5.1 surround sound and is what most authoring tools expect when you hand them an audio track for an MP4 / MKV / DVD project. Plain stereo AC-3 at 384 kbps is the everyday default for spoken content and music.

This tool takes any common audio file and produces a 384 kbps stereo .ac3 you can drop straight into a video editor or DVD authoring workflow.
